If you like to enjoy your latex clothes and to maintain the beauty of the material you should follow these instructions.
Dress and undress
Never use an oil (baby oil) or oil-based product. Long fingernails can do a lot of harm. So take care not to use them too much and not to puncture the material when you put on your garments. You can make dressing easier if you use talcum powder or fat-free dressing aids, especially with tight garments.
Glossy shine
To make garments shine brilliantly we have been using ARMOR ALL for years. This pump spray is especially made for shine and care of latex products. We recommend “Vivishine” for an alternative.
Sunlight
Do not expose latex garments to direct sunlight for longer than absolutely necessary. Storage in a dark place is very important. The UV-rays of sunlight harm the material.
Washing and drying
Like other clothes latex garments need regular care. So please wash your latex pieces immediately after wearing because fat and sweat can harm the material and may lead to signs of wear within a short time. It is best to rinse the garments in lukewarm water in the washbasin or in the bathtub with a little mild shampoo (no washing agent!!). Then dry them with a soft towel on the inside and on the outside and leave them to dry in the air on a hanger for 1–2 hours. To prevent clinging simply take a big plastic bag and put in two dusters, a little talcum powder and the garment. Then inflate it like a balloon and shake it well. The talcum covers the outsides of the garment. This is the best method, especially for garments that need to be sent in for repairs.
Storage
The clean and dry garments should be treated with talcum powder or with a proper silicone oil – we recommend Vivshine. This prevents clinging while in storage and makes it easier to put on. You should keep your garments in a dark place. Please take care that your garments do not come in touch with other textiles, metal gear or othe coloured latex products for this could lead to ugly discolouration or spots. This is especially advisable with light colors.
Discolouration
Latex clothes should not come in contact with metal pieces. Especially precious metals like gold, copper or bronze produce ugly stains that cannot be removed. With transparent or light-colored clothes (white, yellow, pink, etc.) it is possible that other garments release color pigments that produce ugly stains on your latex garment. Besides you should be careful with cosmetic products and perfume and not bring them in contact with the garments. Theater make-up is harmful in any case. It contains a lot of fat substances that discolor the latex.
Synthetic material
Some synthetic materials contain softening agents that can damage latex severely. Silicon or other plastic toys (dildos and the like) should not have contact with latex for a long time. Do not leave such things on latex clothes over night. The material grows dimples on this spot and becomes brittle after some time.
Life span
If you stick to the simple rules – not too much sunlight, dark storage, no fat or oil, rinsing after wearing – you will enjoy your latex clothes for many years.
